Grief

Bible Verses for Grief & Loss

Someone is gone, and the world expects you to keep moving. You came here because the ache did not follow the schedule.

Scroll gently

Breathe in

There is nothing to fix here. Read slowly. Cry if it comes.

Today’s verse for grief

The LORD is nigh unto them that are of a broken heart; and saveth such as be of a contrite spirit.
Psalm 34:18

Read the rest slowly

1 / 6

The LORD is nigh unto them that are of a broken heart; and saveth such as be of a contrite spirit.
Psalm 34:18

Not distant, waiting for you to recover. Near, because you are broken.

2 / 6

Blessed are they that mourn: for they shall be comforted.
Matthew 5:4

Jesus calls mourners blessed. Your grief is not a detour from the life of faith.

3 / 6

He healeth the broken in heart, and bindeth up their wounds.
Psalm 147:3

Binding up is slow work, done by hand, a little at a time.

4 / 6

Weeping may endure for a night, but joy cometh in the morning.
Psalm 30:5

The night is real. It is also a night, and not the whole of time.

5 / 6

Blessed be God, even the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies, and the God of all comfort; who comforteth us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort them which are in any trouble.
2 Corinthians 1:3-4

The comfort you receive now becomes the comfort someone else will need from you.

6 / 6

And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.
Revelation 21:4

God does not explain the tears away. He wipes them away Himself.

A word from Pastor Stan

Grief is love with nowhere left to go. Do not rush it, and do not let anyone shame you into a timeline. What has helped our people most is small and daily: read one passage out loud, say the name you miss out loud, and let somebody sit with you. Faith does not remove the loss. It keeps you company inside of it until you can breathe again.

Pray this, as it is

God of all comfort, I miss them. I do not have words for how much. Sit with me tonight. Hold the part of me that cannot say anything yet, and remind me that You keep what I had to let go. Amen.

You don’t have to read alone.

We are the people of the white flag — a community that surrenders daily and reads the Bible together. Come read tomorrow’s passage with us.
