Today’s verse for guilt & forgiveness

If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

Read the rest slowly

1 / 6

If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
1 John 1:9

Forgiveness is described as faithful and just, not reluctant.

As far as the east is from the west, so far hath he removed our transgressions from us.
Psalm 103:12

East and west never meet. That is the distance chosen on purpose.

3 / 6

Come now, and let us reason together, saith the LORD: though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow.
Isaiah 1:18

Scarlet to white. This is where the white flag comes from.

4 / 6

He will turn again, he will have compassion upon us; he will subdue our iniquities; and thou wilt cast all their sins into the depths of the sea.
Micah 7:19

5 / 6

There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus.
Romans 8:1

Now. Not eventually, once you have made up for it.

6 / 6

And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ's sake hath forgiven you.
Ephesians 4:32

Forgiven people become forgiving people. Start with the one you owe it to most.

A word from Pastor Stan

Guilt tells you what you did. Shame tells you what you are. God answers the first with the cross and refuses the second outright. If you have confessed it, it is handled, and replaying it is not repentance. Waving the white flag means you stop defending yourself and stop condemning yourself at the same time, because both are jobs Jesus already took.

Pray this, as it is

Father, I am done arguing with myself about this. I confess it plainly. Wash me white as snow, and help me to live like a person who has been forgiven. Amen.

You don’t have to read alone.

We are the people of the white flag — a community that surrenders daily and reads the Bible together. Come read tomorrow’s passage with us.
